As 2010 quickly approaches it's end, an important question begs to be asked: where will you celebrate the New Year? If you are headed on a road trip to Mexico, it depends on what you are looking for. A quiet, romantic beach vacation for two? A happening International party? Or a chance to escape into the local Indian culture high in Mexico's mountains? To get you started, here are some of the most popular cities for celebrating the New Year in Mexico.

1. Acapulco, Guerrero: If you are looking for a party, head to the Pacific coast town of Acapulco. This is where the party people from Mexico City travel to bring in the New Year. If you want to hit Acapulco, be sure and make hotel or RV park reservations as soon as possible.

2. Cabo San Lucas, Baja California: Another party favorite, but this one is just a day's drive from the U.S. border. Cabo is a favorite party spot for New Years for both Mexicans and international visitors alike. There is always plenty going on there for New Years, along with big crowds. If you can, reserve your hotel rooms or RV spaces in advance to make sure you have a great place to stay.

3. Alamos, Sonora: The quiet town of Alamos, in the mountains of Sonora, is a great place to spend a peaceful and romantic New Years. Check out the packages at the Hacienda de los Santos Resort and Spa. Alamos hosts a large international community and there is always something fun going on there.

4. Cancun, Mexico: Another party friendly choice for those looking for a little sun to accent their New Years celebration. Cancun can be a great place to head if you are single or with a family. A number of family friendly options, like the all-inclusive Dreams Cancun, offer guided activities for kids so parents can enjoy an adult New Years Eve celebrating. For those seeking nightlife, there are several well-equipped dance clubs in Cancun that are ready to host your New Years Eve this year.

5. Merida, Yucatan: Merida is a lively cultural center in the heart of the Yucatan. Close to both beaches and jungle and home to amazing Spanish architecture, Merida attracts many international visitors. There is no shortage of planned events, from fancy dinners to music and dancing to live music. The Villa Mercedes is even hosting a Medieval New Year, featuring a buffet, open bar and live music.

Wherever you are planning on going over New Years, you want to make sure you plan ahead because this is a busy season for travel in Mexico. If you will be driving an RV, make reservations at your favorite RV Park in advance, as these tend to fill up fast. Research hotels and reserve a room, if you find one you especially like, to ensure they will have a room for you when you arrive. If you are driving, you will also need to get Mexican auto insurance, or RV insurance if you are driving an RV. Think about adding additional travel insurance to cover you in case of unexpected incidents on the road. Spend this New Years Eve celebrating your inner explorer and take your celebration on the road in Mexico.
