You should not be feeding your dog just any old dog food you know. There are lots of pet foods that just are not able to measure up to what your pet needs. You dog is an omnivore and he will always prefer a meaty diet, why do they put in Corn?

The corn just passes thru the dog or cats system just for you to be able to clean it up. Dogs really enjoy meats and vegetables as they are omnivorous. Cats are carnivores, and require different diets.

Dogs that are fed table scraps as well as foods you cook up at home have a tendency to over eat on the fats portion of their diet and usually miss out on a lot of nutrition they need. You see, dogs are from the wolf family and are omnivores.

Always take care that you do not make any abrupt changes in your pet diet. You must take care to do it very slowly over a period of time. Thus you will avoid causing any gastrointestinal upsets. Unlike you and I, Dogs can go for months or years with any diet change.

A lot of pet owners tend to forget that their animals need good food which will include veggies, grains, protein and fats. You will also learn that dry foods with good ingredients are ok too.

While you are able to feed a quality dog food, and have your dog loving it, you really must take care when making changes, do not do it too quickly in order to avoid problems.

When you think about it, your dog is at your mercy as far as his diet is concerned, he has no choice but to eat what you dish out to him. If you can locate a good natural dog food your pet will be happy as well as healthy.

If you really look closely you will discover that most products used for your dog food are mostly unfit for human consumption. Most are air dried in order to reduce the moisture which will help to prevent bacteria from growing in the food.

You are going to discover a lot of variances in the nutritional ingredients of meat, poultry and fish by products from batch to batch the labels list the stuff therein but provide no definitions as to quality.

These ingredients are generally by-products of the meat, poultry and fishing industries, with the potential for a wide variation in nutrient composition.
