With the incidents of infidelity on the rise, more and more people all over the world are asking one common question: "Is sexting cheating?" Sexting is a broad concept that covers both physical and emotional aspect of any human being. The apprehension related to sexting gets air more because of the mere thought that one may lose the exclusive right over his or her partner both in terms of emotional attachment as well as physical attachment. The irony is that it starts with emotions and then engulfs the physical aspect which leads to complete massacre of any steady relationship. The event of sexting has increased dramatically with the growth of internet and development of telecommunications. Well, one cannot overlook the sudden burst of devices which support picture or multimedia messaging.

A partner involved in sexting often comes up with arguments like an office colleague is trying to pull leg and that there is no real intention behind the text messages found or perhaps only a professional who is paid by the sexting sites for sending messages has sent those message just because the partner involved registered with the sexting site to find out the truth or just for fun! Irrespective of the arguments, the fact or the truth that remains at the base is that fun can convert to reality and it is this apprehension that increases the scope of emotional pain and anguish. It may be true that the involved partner may not have any initial intentions but who can say a word about the real intentions of the sexter on the other side of the fence? Human behavior and the role of fantasy cannot be overlooked and it may happen that over time the involved partner actually get emotionally and physically attached to the sexter and end up violating the boundaries of the present relationship!

It may also happen that the partner and the sexter are involved in exchanging nude or semi-nude photos along with sexually explicit messages! How to explain the situation? In this situation, the possibility of physical intimacy cannot be overlooked at all. No matter how hard the involved partner tries to explain that all these were just for fun, the truth which cannot be ignored is that the messages and the images have created a sense of insecurity and the fear of loss and that the other partner is emotionally tortured because he or she senses that he or she lost the exclusivity and that the bond of trust and faith no longer exists. This sense of loss produces emotional pain, which if not more, is by no means less than the pain when one finds out that his or her partner is involved in a physical relation with someone else. Thus, the question, "is sexting cheating", has a positive answer! Yes, sexting is cheating because of the emotional trauma associated with it.

If you are asking the question, "is sexting cheating?", there is one thing that you need to know: the person involved in sexting is breaking trust and hence, sexting is an outright act of cheating.
