When you want a snack, what do you reach for? Chips and candy? What if you are trying to be healthy? Finding tasty and healthy snacks can be a big challenge, particularly if the foods you like best for snacking are high in sugar or salt. In this article, we will teach you how to make your own healthy snacks to satisfy those cravings. All of the following are foods you can eat while watching your diet and weight. Does that sound too good to be true? Check it out!

Yummy Dipped Pretzels make a great snack without feeling like you are limiting yourself in terms of portion size or denying yourself some of your favorite tastes. Melt a half of cup of semi sweet chocolate in the microwave until it is just melted. It will take between one and a half and two minutes and make sure that you stir it up really well before using it. Dip low-sodium pretzels into the chocolate until they are coated and then lay them on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet in a single layer. Cool them at room temperature for about an hour or in the fridge for twenty minutes.

Spicy Tortilla Chips are something that, believe it or not, you can make on your own at home. Tortilla chips, when you buy them from the store, are usually loaded down with a crazy amount of salt and aren't actually very good for you. For this snack, you make the chips yourself using corn tortillas. Cut at least ten corn tortillas into sixths. Put the pieces onto a baking sheet and then spritz it with a mixture of canola oil, a quarter teaspoon of chili powder, a half a teaspoon of cumin, and a quarter teaspoon of sea salt. Make sure each piece gets coated with the mixture and then bake the lot at 350 degrees for fifteen minutes. Let them cool before you eat them.

Make your own caramel corn! You probably think that caramel corn is an indulgence that you cant afford due to the sugar and calorie count. Try this healthy recipe instead. In a big stock pot, melt two tablespoons of butter and mix in two tablespoons of brown sugar, a quarter teaspoon of kosher salt, and a tablespoon of water. Whisk it all together and then dump in seven cups of air popped popcorn. You can even add in an ounce of lightly salted peanuts if you want to. Mix all if it together until the popcorn (and nuts) is coated evenly and then let it cool before you eat it.

If you don't mind doing a little bit of research, you can find all sorts of healthy recipes that give you the tastes you crave but have far fewer calories and bad ingredients. There are lots of great tasting options for healthy snacks out there. You just have to be patient enough to find them and make them for yourself. Staying healthy doesn't have to be hard. You can do it!
