We all want to give our kids the best possible start in life but it is a sad fact that things don't always work out as we had planned them to do. No matter how good your intentions are there is a chance that you will need to modify your approach at some point in the future. It is how we react to setbacks and put our children back on the right track which are the important factors. Here are a few examples of situations in what it might appear that all is lost but where you can still save the day if you act smartly.

Student Doing Badly at School
Most kids go through a bad spell at school, and you shouldn't see it as being something which has no solution. A good idea is to look for the reason why they are under performing. Are they hanging around with the wrong crowd or is the level of teaching in their school to blame? Probably the best way to get them back onto a good level is to look at moving them to a private school. There are lots of fine private schools in London and the cost is now a lot less prohibitive than it used to be. Finding secondary school places in the right institution shouldn't be too hard to do online.

Poor Nutrition and Eating Habits
This is another issue which parents often complain about. If your child lives on a diet of soft drinks and chocolate it can be a hugely frustrating situation. Simply forbidding the snacks in question is an approach which seldom if ever works. A far better method is to encourage healthy eating by providing nutritious and interesting family meals. Try looking up some unusual recipes online and see whether anything hits the mark with them.

A Lack of Good Manners
The final point is another classic, especially with teenagers. The big question to be addressed is where are they getting their bad manners from? Is it from their friends, the television or somewhere else? The two places where a young person can learn a lot about behaving are in the home and at school. If you send them to a well regarded school and set them a good example at home then there is still hope of turning things around.
