Many homeowners live on solar power for environmental reasons. But there are many financial advantages they are quietly reaping because of their wise decision. These are not immediately apparent to many people because few people talk about this...until recently.

Solar energy is clean, renewable and found in abundance during most parts of the year. The estimated cost of solar generated electricity varies from around $1.80 to $5.00 per watt. DIY photovoltaic panels produce cheaper electricity than retail-purchased panels.

Living on solar power, you can use as much energy as you require without burning an ounce of fossil fuel to pollute the environment. You will also not infringe on other people's rights nor deplete their resources just so you can harness energy from the sun. This is because the sun shines as much on your property as it does on theirs, obviously.

Between commercially installed panels and homemade panels, many homeowners choose to save money by going the DIY route. This helps them save on the immediate, upfront cost and helps the payback period to get shorter. Also, by building their own solar power generator, they'll have an intimate working knowledge of photovoltaic panels, so they can build these panels when they need more energy and for a fraction of the price of buying them retail.

Few things are as certain as death, taxes and inflation. As the cost of living goes up over the years, you can maintain your lifestyle by hedging against this phenomenon. You can do this in two broad ways: (1) By growing your disposable income at the pace of inflation, or (2) By keeping your cost at the current rate for as long as possible. Using solar energy panels, you can control your energy cost very well.

The cost of energy (dollars per watt) remains the same as long as your panels work for you. When you harness solar energy using photovoltaic panels, you can get cheap energy for as long as 25 years or more. All this happens as the price of energy around the world increase at a dizzying pace. What this means is your energy cost is fixed for the next few decades. How wonderful!

On top of this, the government is giving out incentives to encourage more folks to use solar energy for their home. Therefore if you can build homemade solar panels, you can have all the benefits of cheap, renewable, environmentally friendly power that attracts more money from your local government.

John Greenspan is an expert in DIY solar panels and has build several solar power generators in his spare time. Are you interested in building DIY Solar panels? Pick up your FREE "How To Build Solar Panels" eBook at => http://www.diysolarpanelsworld.com
