It is incredibly difficult to keep up to date with all of the amazing technology on offer nowadays for businesses to run in their offices. Let's face it, it is not all useful to all businesses but there are of course some great and often overlooked nuggets out there.

The combination of a smart, well located office space that embraces some of the relevant technological advances can have important implications for both the day to day running of a business, and also how a company is perceived by its clients. For example, it goes without saying that a company that often presents ideas to visiting clients would be better perceived with a professional audio visual system, as opposed to the kind we've all seen before that have a habbit of failing mid presentation, requiring an IT specialist to rush in and get the thing up and running again. That's just one example of how advancing technology can impact your business. Below are some more examples:

Another classic example is that of video conferencing. With the advent of Skype and other systems on the mass market we are all far more aware of this type of communication than we used to be. The problem is that for some industries that constantly need to hook up from country to country via video, perhaps for crucial meetings, a dedicated, professional system is required. There are many companies offering these types of systems and they can have a dramatic impact on the professionalism of a business, especially if you often communicate with important clients via video and audio.

IPTV is another modern technology that is all around us, often without us knowing it. This technology is used in many ways, one example is for sending video information over a high speed internet connection, IPTV is the technology that drives the BBC's iPlayer. IPTV is also used for digital signage which we see at airport terminals, train stations, supermarkets and inside large offices. IPTV has an important role to play in the offices of many companies when it comes to the networking of all kinds of digital information. More and more companies are realising its potential and embracing it.

So to summarise, not all businesses will be interested in every new piece of technology that appears on the market but there are some really important ways that certain areas of the new digital explosion can genuinely make a business function better, and importantly, impress their clients.

The author works in the digital design industry and is based in Surrey, England. For information on modern technology such as IPTV and Video Conferencing he recommends visiting TvOverLAN.com and for excellent, modern West End Office Space he recommends BrayFoxSmith.com.
