There are so many new services and gadgets appearing on the scene but in amongst a lot of gimmicks there can be some real technological nuggets. I'm going to attempt to select just two pieces of very current technology that will definitely play an important role for me in the New Year ahead. 1. My first is IPTV. IPTV has been playing an increasingly crucial role in many areas of our everyday lives, often without us even realising that we are witnessing IPTV technology. With the advent of smart TV's, this technology is now arriving in our homes with all the fancy and appealing options it comes loaded with. You may already be aware that this technology is at the heart of services such as the BBC's online iPlayer but now you can have the same advanced facilities in your lounge. Smart TV's are a combination of an advanced PC and a high specification television. You can stream your favourite movies straight into your lounge, so no longer will you need to panic about returning DVDs to the rental store. You can also surf the web from your TV and also run numerous apps in the same way we have become accustomed to on our smart phones. This is the excellent combination of the many things that are important in our modern day lives into one convenient, smart package. 2. The other piece of increasingly popular technology that I love is a mobile repeater system. A mobile repeater is quite simply a system to boost the signal and therefore the reception of mobile devices in poor reception areas. These poor areas can be office developments with thick concrete walls, basement offices, properties with many steel beams or just the inconvenience of a very rural location. Mobile repeaters work like a TV antenna in that they provide amplification to the mobile signal, therefore providing mobile coverage where it otherwise wasn't possible. As you can imagine it is crucial for many businesses to provide their staff with a decent mobile signal and hence this technology is increasingly in demand. It is certainly not easy to only select two pieces of current technology that will have a big impact over the coming year but for me the two above are my current favourites.
