When it comes to buying property all the acknowledged experts say that there are always three things to take into account and they are always referred to as Location, Location, Location.

With a Jacuzzi Spa the most important three words are Quality, Quality, Quality but then,of course, there is another factor to consider and that is ease of use. There is no point,is there, in having something that you can not use?

So one of the most important points in selecting a Hot Tub, if not the most important one, has to be ease of use.

What is the point in making a very substantial investment in a Hot Tub and then find that you can not use it or indeed be able to use it safely?

It amazes me that there are so many spa makers who do not build a walk in step in to their Hot Tubs.

What a simple and safe feature. It is really helpful to have steps as you can get into and out of the Hot Tub safely.

This is even more important as we all get older. So I think it is a very important consideration when buying a spa that you look for walk in steps.

Of course there are other things that you should consider and another important factor is the durability of the Hot Tub.

The best Spas have to be those that are designed and engineered from day one for inherent strength and durability combined with stylish good looks and at the same time ease of maintenance.

Many manufacturers start off with the basic and cheapest form of construction which is often described as full foam, or fully foamed. Amazingly this can include some of the largest selling brands in the world.

Just because a Hot Tub brand is one of the largest sold in volume terms it does not mean, for one moment, that it is the best. For one thing it has no cache or exclusivity.

One very large volume maker of Hot Tubs has made a practice of selling what are, in my view, cheap-to-make spas but they put them in a very expensive looking presentation package. The end user needs to know that they are constructed with an inferior and cheaper shell material.

This company does fully foam all their production as their Hot Tubs need structural support for the cheaper thinner and porous shell material that thy use.

You should bear in mind that if a fully foamed spa has a leak this can create a very serious service nightmare. If this happens it can often take a long time to realise there is a leak and by then the foam and the cabinet have become pretty wet.

I have heard it said and I have to admit that I find it some what amusing that this high volume manufacturer states that they fully foam all their production to ensure that they keep the noise down - have you ever heard of such a idiotic statement - what noise - it has to be a very poorly designed and badly engineered spa if they have to do that - the simple truth is that they start out with the cheapest way to make a spa as they do not use a quality acrylic like the better Spa makers.

So when you look at a spa it always pays to probe beneath the bright lights or glitz factor.

Remember also the old proverb that every thing that glitters is not gold.

Always be prepared to push a little beneath the wrapping and presentation and do not merely accept what is the simple patter of a sales person.
