Bathroom vanities are one of the key design elements that you need to consider when designing your own bathroom. They are available in many different designs and decors and selecting the "right" one for you can often seem a bit overwhelming.

The first decision I suggest making is for you to consider what type of décor your own bathroom is designed around. Obviously, a bathroom with a sleek new modern design will require a different choice in bathroom vanities that will an "antique" or "period" looking bathroom. While it seems obvious, the theme of your bathroom will dictate the first step in your selection of bathroom vanities.

The next consideration is to determine exactly what size of vanity you need. The actual available space in your bathroom will be a major determining factor as well as other factors such as the storage space you want in the vanity and whether you have need for a single or double sink.

You also will need to make sure that the type of vanity countertop you select is compatible with your choice of bathroom vanities. Some special countertops will not securely fasten to the cheap vanities available at most home improvement retailers so if your countertop is a marble facsimile for instance, make certain your vanity will accept this kind of countertop.

A final consideration is to examine the construction of the vanity itself. Is the overall construction of good quality? Does the unit seem solid? Do the drawers have rollers or are they merely wooden slides? If the unit must be assembled, are the instructions clear enough?

Even though there are a number of things to consider in your selection of bathroom vanities, the single biggest one is this .... Do you like it?

Select a unit that will look well in the overall color scheme and design of your bathroom. Also make certain that the unit is built well to provide years of trouble-free service. Your choice in bathroom vanities should also be laid out nicely to allow you to store whatever bathroom products you need to have on hand.

Your bathroom is one of the most important rooms in your house. You use it everyday and your guests see it as well. Therefore, you want it to be designed well in terms of functionality as well as aesthetically pleasing. Your choice in bathroom vanities will help satisfy these two requirements very nicely, assuming you make a "good" decision.

Arguably a remodeled bathroom can give you the most "bang-for-your-buck" of any home remodeling project. You'll want to give yourself the advantage of as much information on bathroom remodeling as you can.
