Did you know that you can cut your electricity bill in half by using a wind turbine to generate half of your power needs? Yes you can do this by simply installing one or two small wind turbines on your property.

The cost of electricity supplied by your power utility continues to escalate everywhere as the cost of oil and gas rises. You may get a little break in the rate of increase here and there but the trend is inevitably upwards and will continue that way.

It is somewhat difficult for the average consumer to know what to do to decrease his power bill. Should he try solar energy, wind power or perhaps hydro power if there is a stream close by?

Actually if you take a look at the costs in relation to the power produced one technology stands out as well above the others in savings. This is wind power which is the lowest cost to install and produces more power than a solar panel system. Hydro power is expensive especially if the stream is any great distance from the home.

Wind power is green renewable energy. Wind generators convert the power of the wind to electric power and are quite efficient. They are absolutely non polluting and can be noise free also. The quantity of electrical power that you need determines the output of the turbine or turbines you will use.

You can actually build your own wind power generator from auto parts at very low cost and generate free electricity. Residential wind turbines or wind generators can produce all or part of your power requirements.

Your home built turbine can be mounted on your roof or on a free standing tower. You can easily place several of them on your property for less than the cost of one purchased commercial turbine. With the right conditions, a residential wind power generator can produce all of the electricity you require. You may actually produce more power than you require and in many areas you can sell the excess power to the power company.

A residential wind turbine is comparatively small and on average five to ten feet across the blades. It can generate power in quite low winds so you do not need to be in an area where high winds are constantly blowing. A wind speed as low as eight miles per hour will generate considerable power.

If you decide to go for wind power for your home or farm you can look to cutting your power bills substantially or even to eliminating them altogether. Actually selling excess power to the power company is a great joy.
