However, as with every business there is, there are people out there who seek to take advantage of all your hard work. What I am talking about is product creators who withhold payments from affiliates, claim that the receipts provided are not authentic or simply just refuse to pay. Now, this is a tiny minority of product creators but the fact that there are people out there who try to do this means you should be educated about how to prevent this. Firstly, the best thing you can do to protect your affiliate commissions is to simply do some background research about the product creator. Unless it is their first product there will be some background about them online in forums or blogs who have reviewed their past products. Even if it is their first ever product the likelihood is that they will have been floating around the internet for some time beforehand, this will leave an online trail. All you are looking for is reassurance that this product creator isn't out to simply take your traffic and sales and not pay you in return. Also, make sure that you read fully the product creators terms and conditions for any 'small print' which may result in you receiving your commissions later than thought or even not at all. These conditions may include things like proving that every purchase was made through your link legitimately, or even something like commissions will not be paid till after the refund period which can be anywhere up to 365 days. So you must always make sure that you read fully the terms and conditions to make sure there are no irregularities which could result in you not receiving your commission. Finally, the best thing you can do is to use a company which will take care of the affiliate payments separately from the product creator. A company such as ClickBank automatically pay affiliates their commission without the product creator having to lift a finger. This is why most product creators use ClickBank as it is a lot easier for them to pay the affiliates, they don't have to do a thing and also because affiliates know they will get paid 100% they have this added security. This is the most important thing you can do to make sure that you get your affiliate commissions. Most people involved with affiliate marketing or internet marketing in general will know that there are a few 'less popular' marketers out there who use 'shady' tactics and legal loopholes to make their money. We all wish this wasn't the case and that every marketer was as honest as the next, but, this isn't how it is.
