This causes a lot of problems for the newer marketers out there who don't have lists the size these successful marketers have. Mainly the fact that if you only have a list of a few hundred people how on earth are you supposed to make any real profit? The guru's with the big lists obviously had to start their online ventures somewhere just like you. Take affiliate marketing, for example, a list is the most important thing you need, even more than being able to write a good email copy. Think about it, what is the use of spending all that time writing the perfect promotion for a product if you have no one to promote it to? It's hardly rocket science to work that out I know. So affiliate marketing isn't the best niche to begin with if you are first starting out online as most of your earnings in this niche are made entirely from your list. On the other hand there are ways which you can make money online without any subscribers whatsoever such as Google Adsense, these adverts can be placed on your blog or website and as long as you have traffic going to these websites then the potential is there to make money. Google Adwords is also another way of making money without a list, this is basically paying for the traffic you receive to your website, this can be used to promote your product but do you really want to be paying for this traffic? Realistically if you want to become successful online then you do really need to build a list, the earlier you start building a list, the more prospects you will have in a shorter amount of time. The process of building a list isn't one in which you can go from having 0 subscribers to 1237 subscribers overnight, it usually starts of as a slow trickle of subscribers, something like 2-3 a day, but as your name gets out there more and your squeeze pages and blogs get more and more traffic then the opt-ins will start to rise as well. The word snowball effect is used too much these days on the Internet but building a list really is the perfect example of a snowball effect in motion. Yes, the money really is in the list, as mentioned above, you can make some money without a list but it will be hardly enough to pay for your monthly grocery bill let alone allow you to leave your job.
