If you want to win story contests systematically, you must look at your fiction pasttime as a profession. It suggests approaching competitions like an office you visit each day, every day of the week. Just one award will not seem a lot yet many prizes every month add up to a substantial amount.

For us to switch a lifetime's behavior may appear impractical yet each and every prominent celebrity in writing events has been forced to take on a fresh psychology.

Step one is to arrange a record system. Notebooks fast get outdated so try a spreadsheet program such as Excel. Unfortunately, such programs are a steep learning curve. Better to adapt Table in Word.doc for such a basic task.

Precise documentation is essential to tell you what you've achieved and what you plan. Top contest performers arrange a scheme and fulfil the scheme, meticulously.

Look into each competition you find attractive. Search the Net. Note the competition data and deadline in your records then list the deadlines in date order so you won't forget any event.

Explore the diverse and many options open all the time. You may chance upon a treasury of exciting new avenues as you search the web that should lead to still more profitable discoveries.

Be careful of interruptions The contest business is no longer your pasttime. It's a profession. Allow yourself a set period to finalize and enter each story.

Research can soon become a compulsion. Therefore, after a while, close down your market research. Otherwise you won't start the real work!

Allocate targets for those competitions you plan to discover. Employ precise key phrases in the search box. For instance, "story contests UK 2011". These prolix search phrases should result in the most targeted contests.

Assign yourself a personal target. For example, twelve entries made each four weeks.

Make a good note of the monies you invest in all the events and the labor you put in across the year. Are you receiving a worthwhile return in awards? If your payback is not good, perhaps you should refine the entries or select the events with greater care.

It's a truism that, provided your stories are simply competent, a persistent approach will triumph yet entries that are brilliant may flop if they're not submitted to a plan.

To stay energized, dream what you might do when you win. After you've gained experience in the scheme, you will find yourself able to afford many little nice things. When your skill improves, you will enjoy major prizes nearly each fortnight. That's story winning magic.

Follow the scheme and that schedule should eventually earn you big cash sums. These ideas are easy to carry out and they're great fun!
