Tucker's 60th Win The First Of Many Yet To Come

Scott Tucker recorded his 60th career win when he finished first at the Sports Car Club of America National Championship Runoffs last month, and he hasn't looked back since. With a pair of new cars finally in place for the team, they've been plowing through the racing field as if on cruise control to win. Most recently, after the SCCA Runoffs victory, Tucker has taken the top podium spot at American Le Mans Series Monterey at Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway, and he and co-drivers Christophe Bouchut and Joao Barbosa took the top tier at Petit Le Mans for their class earlier this month, at the close to the ALMS 2011 season.

Tucker has been making quick work of racking up the record books. Not only has he garnered more than 60 wins during a career that is only five years long, but he has won a historical three SCCA Runoffs, an ALMS drivers' championship and Rookie of the Year in 2010. He began driving in a Ferrari, entering in the Ferrari Challenge Series, before moving on to Grand-Am racing and finally the Le Mans Prototype races when his skills were more refined. In his ALMS debut in 2010, Tucker led his Level 5 team to a championship in the LMP class category, which bumped them up to the LMP2 category.

More wins were to come even among the tougher competition in the new class. Tucker added Luis Diaz to his driving team. Diaz had lots of experience in the LMP2 category, and the team started the season off right with an impressive performance at the Roar Before the 24 in Daytona. Adding more and more wins under their belts as the season progressed, Level 5 Motorsports were officially a contender in the Le Mans Prototype league. Now, although focused mostly on ALMS and ILMC contests, Tucker still races in Ferrari, Grand-Am and IMSA competitions, as well.

But the top of the racing field is definitely Tucker's goal, as he prepared for the 2012 season by purchasing two brand new Honda prototypes for the team mid-season this year. The HPD ARX-01g cars only recently debuted on the track, but they've proven enormously impressive with next to no mechanical issues. It can be assumed that Tucker began preparing for 2011 during his breakout 2010 season, and he was already looking ahead to 2012 when competing in this year's season. This forward thinking approach has Tucker always considering one step ahead of the competition, which is right where he wants to be. He reserved the very first two HPD ARX-01g's off the production line, making his team the most advanced in terms of cutting-edge vehicle technology.

In addition to Diaz earlier this year, Tucker hired Marino Franchitti near the end of this racing season to drive for Level 5. With every new car and every new driver, Tucker gets one step closer to world championship status in the most elite, advanced motorsports class. Franchitti will be an integral part of the team in 2012 as they continue to orient themselves with the new cars. Franchitti has years of experience driving in the LMP2 class as well as driving HPD ARX prototypes.

As he continues to build his motorsports program, Scott Tucker is on track to increase his wins by the week next season.
