You never want to completely disappear from their life, but you do want to back off and let them see how well you are doing on your own. This means no crying on their voicemail at two in the morning, and no throwing drinks in the face of their dates.
Go to places where you know they will be, but do not go alone. Always look your best, have a great time with others, and make sure to greet your ex with a big smile. Once they start paying you more attention, take them out but keep it very casual. Let the situation run its course from there and never force anything.
