In the past, mothers stayed at home to care for their young and attend to her family's needs. Then, the empowerment of women came, which allowed women to work outside the home to become career women.
With the amount of time mothers spent outside the home building a name for themselves, they often left their kids in the care of other people. This is where the irony begins. If there was a way for moms to care for their families as well as earn a living, every mother would embrace the opportunity. But for the most part, this just wasn't possible before, so mothers ended up choosing one or the other.
Luckily, the Internet came and opened the doors to numerous work from home opportunities. Now, a mom can stay at home and become an online entrepreneur at the same time she is overseeing her family's day to day needs.
A study conducted by the Center for Women's Business Research recorded a 40% increase of women-owned business in the last few years. Clearly, this is a trend that is on the rise as more and more women look beyond the cubicle for benefits it cannot provide.
Some of these benefits might include picking up their kids from school or attending a play their children are a part of....essentially spending more quality time with their children/family.
Work at home moms work as hard as anyone in the corporate world, the only difference is that they are not constricted by schedules and basically have the freedom to plan their their work schedules around their families needs instead of the other way around.
How do these moms do it? Basically, it all starts with the Internet. Through the globalization brought by interconnecting various parts of the world online, mothers can now sell products and services online from their very own homes. For the most part working on the Internet doesn't require huge capital to get started.
If you want to become a stay at home mom entrepreneur, here are some ideas worth looking into:
Event Planning: If you are good at organizing things, then this venture is for you. Build a website which serves as an online directory for everything a party needs. Or you can offer this as a service for a premium price. Either way, you can easily plan parties around your schedule and be flexible in doing so.
Personal Assistant: The Internet can prove to be the perfect avenue for becoming a personal assistant. You can schedule appointments, call clients, pay bills, or book airplane tickets as part of your job description. Similar to this, you can also become a virtual assistant for internet marketers and do day to day tasks required of their online business such as link building and content creation.
Internet Marketing: If you have passion for selling and promoting things, then you can become an internet marketer. Becoming an affiliate for big name brands like Dell and Sony can be a good stay at home mom opportunity. All you have to do is to promote them and if someone buys through your promotional efforts, then you get a commission.
Indeed, with the various ways of making money online, stay at home moms can now become online entrepreneurs and earn the same amount a corporate worker earns without ever compromising their family's welfare.
If you are a mom and this is your dream...reach for it. This is the age of the Internet and opportunities to work at home have never been greater or more fulfilling than they are now.
