Though seafood is known to be expensive, particularly lobster and caviar, many people love them. The reason why it is quite costly is because of the supply and demand. For instance, lobsters are caught in lobster pots and only a few are being harvested at the sea in a single time. Later, they will be served to the tables at the restaurants where the rich people are going to dine in. Seafood is really difficult to get and it can take days to harvest. Because of this, the labor costs are being added on the price that you need to pay.

Other seafood species that seafood lovers enjoy eating include salmon, shellfish, whitefish, mackerel, crabs and prawns. These are not only tasty and refreshing but they provide you with lots of nutrients. The demand for seafood and fish has increased now because of the fact that the marine creatures are being known for the nutrients they have and also for being an excellent alternative source of protein. Because of this, the seafood restaurants are being visited by lots of diners.

Many seafood species are being coveted for the omega-3 fatty acids contained in them since these are very rare health nutrients that are only obtained in eating fish. Hence, many people who are trying to live a healthy lifestyle as well as maintain a healthy diet usually include fish like salmon and whitefish in their daily diet. Other than the omega-3 fatty acids, several studies have proven that the consumption of fish can minimize health problems that are usually associated to the brain and heart. Many Americans are consuming large amounts of beef that are in steaks and burgers in different restaurants. And because of this, they encounter heart and cholesterol issues from too much consumption of beef.

Due to the several health benefits related to the seafood species and especially Alaska seafood species, they serve as a great replacement for other kinds of meat like pork, beef and chicken. One can substitute steaks with a lean and nutritious fillet of fish. This can be a fantastic lean protein alternative to red meats as it is also low in fat and low in calories. Though you still like consuming red meats, by replacing some meals in a week with shellfish or fish, you will be able to minimize the risk for heart attack and other cardiovascular diseases. You won't only enjoy seafood because of its great taste but also because of its various health benefits.

If you are a lover of meat, you need to understand that consuming plenty of beef, pork or even chicken can be harmful for your health. Thus, it is best that you eat them in moderation. Occasionally, you can consume seafood varieties and include them in your meal in order to get a more nutritious and healthier diet. Seafood is really scrumptious and you cannot escape its great taste. Just ignore the fact that it is expensive, because healthy food options are normally pricey but it doesn't matter, as long as you live a healthy lifestyle.
