If you want to visit Russia as a tourist or for business purposes then you will need to apply for the visa that is appropriate to your stay. It is much easier these days to get passports and visas as you no longer have to visit a passport office; you can simply apply for your Russia visas . Should you want to go to Russia as a tourist then you will require a tourist visa, which is valid for a month. As a tourist you will also have to supply your travel arrangements and itinery, along with a tourist voucher that's obtainable from your travel agent.
You need to apply for your Russia visa no sooner than three months before you intend to travel, and you must have it before you leave the UK. If you need a business visa you will also have to have a letter from the UK Company and a letter of invitation from the company in Russia, business visas can be extended from 1-3 months or 6-12 months. When you apply for your visa online you can opt to have it delivered either 72 hours or 10 days following receipt of your application. When you apply for a visa you need at least six months remaining on your UK passport and a clean page so that the Russia visa can be stuck inside.
When you apply online you will need two special delivery next day guaranteed envelopes from the post office, one self-addressed and one addressed to the passport office. If you don't trust the post you can arrange to have your visa delivered by courier. You will need two passport sized photographs, once you have downloaded and completed the Russia visa application form these two photographs need to be attached to the form.
You should be sure that you have all the necessary documentation to hand when you complete your application. You may need to supply additional documents such as the letters required for a business visa and the travel arrangements and itinery for the tourist one. If you choose to pay for your visa by cheque then you will need to include this with your application form and additional documents. Applying for Russian visas just couldn't be simpler when you do it online - no more waiting around for hours in passport offices and embassies; the internet has changed all that.
