Whether it's a new year, a new month, or a new day, it can be still be filled with hope that the future can be bright and shiny like a new penny.

With all the ups and downs, as well as the twists and turns we can take in life, it can sometimes become disheartening and discouraging, where stress and anxiety levels seem to soar to all time highs to say the least.

Yet… it is possible for the future to still be optimistic and filled with promise.

Challenges, whether they are personal, financial, physical and/or emotional are the very things that can propel you forward and lift you up through times you never thought were possible to make it through.

Situations that stir unthinkable thoughts and emotions within you can be the catalyst for your greatest growth, inspiration, creativity, and promise.

It may not seem that way at the time that's for sure, but you can believe it's possible even when things seem impossible.

You may not have made or are making it through situations as well as you would like, but you are making it through just the same.

No matter what you are facing, what's important is letting go of the past so your future can be bright!

Letting go doesn't mean forgetting what you endured, it means taking a closer look at what is being offered to you through the experience(s).

Often when people are going through challenges they become stuck in emotions, blame and resentment; they check out, so to speak. They forget to check in to see what's really going on and what they learning, as well as what they need at that time.

To move out of darkness of the past and into the brightness of the future, ask yourself these questions:

What am I learning about myself through this experience? Maybe you are learning that you need to take better care of yourself, or that you need to ask for help, or that you are holding onto behaviours and feelings that aren't benefiting you, your life, and others, etc.

When you learn more about yourself, you can grow and change. You can be a better person because of what you are recognizing and the changes you are making.

What's working and not working? When you know what feels right and not right for you, then you can begin to amend and adjust your way of doing things that benefits you further.

What can I do to make today or tomorrow a better day? When you ask yourself this question, it can get you moving out of feeling stuck in emotions and being powerless to one of feeling free and empowered.

Am I doing all I can right now? Sometimes you will be doing all you can and it's nice to recognize that you are. Other times you might realize there are things you could be doing but aren't, and then have to choice to act upon them or not.

What do I need to do to be more peaceful? When you are in pain, emotional and/or physical, you may forget that serenity is possible.

See what you can do that would help you to feel more calm. Perhaps it's meditating, having a cup of tea, going for a walk, listening to music, reading, writing, visualizing, breathing, exercising, or saying affirmations, etc.

You may have to try a few different ways until you find what works best for you. What works one day may not work the next but, continue to explore. When you are peaceful, your mind and body can relax and renew your spirit again.

How am I caring for me? When you are going through trying times, you might forget to look after yourself, or not as well as you generally do.

Your needs are important. Whether it's sleep, quiet time, making time for family and/or friends, exercising, meditating, and so on, paying attention to you is significant in how you move through what is occurring.

How am I loving and forgiving myself and others? When you are feeling emotional or wrapped up in what's occurring, you might forget that love is the answer.

Check in to see if you are with-holding love and forgiveness to yourself and/or another. If so, see if you can move into the space of love again. If not, why do you want to hold back,? How is this helping you and another?

What am I grateful for today? Being thankful can move you out of the negative feelings and into positive ones again.

Being grateful reminds you that even with all that is occurring there is still goodness in your life.

These questions are a great way to end and/or begin of each day. It helps you to not only let things go, but put things into a new perspective and offers new possibilities for growth and expansion.

Remember, some days may be harder than others, that's for sure, but that doesn't mean the future can't be bright.

Let the past go!

When you use these techniques, they can assist you in seeing what is holding you back and letting the past go and into a future that is bright and filled with possibilities.
