In this economic climate you're more likely to be worried about the financial safety of your business rather than the physical safety of your premises and staff. There are plenty of reasons why, when it comes to making cut backs, you shouldn't start with your business security. Even if you sell a service and not a product, the chances are you will still have something on your premises worth stealing. Here are just a few reasons why you shouldn't scrimp on business security.

- Theft prevention

The most obvious reason to invest in some decent security is to prevent theft. You don't need a complex network of state of the art cameras and infrared sensors to keep your business safe. Something as simple as a good security gate is a start. A decorative gate with a pad-lock for the weekends may look pretty, but it's not safe. A decent security gate will often be a good deterrent as it gives the impression your entire premises will have a similar level of security.

- Insurance

Another reason for investing in decent security, would be to lower your insurance premiums. The more security you have, the less likely you are to be broken into so the cheaper your insurance is likely to be. You may argue that the cost of new or upgraded security will be more than you'll save on your insurance, but, if your were to be burgled, how much of your time would it take up? Talking to the police, talking to the insurance company, filling out forms, arranging any stolen products to be replaced before it impacts on your customers, are these things you can put a financial price on?

- Safety

We've looked at the protecting your goods, but what about your staff? Can you put a price on their safety? I comprehensive security system or security gate isn't just keeping your stock safe; it's keeping your staff safe too.

- Technology

Gone are the days when an intercom was nothing more than two glorified cups joined by a piece of string or a security gate needing a security guard to manually open it. These days there is security to suit every budget and business need. GSM technology, for example, has eliminated the need for wires and it means you can answer your intercom and open your automatic gate from almost anywhere in the world.

Remember, you can turn your business into Fort Knox, but you need to keep it safe from the inside too, when taking on new staff always check them out first by follow up their references. When you receive deliveries, don't leave unknown drivers unsupervised and never give codes and passwords to your security to anyone who doesn't need them.

UK Automation Supplies offers an extensive range of Automation Supplies for trade. Including Electric & Automatic Gates, GSM Intercoms & GSM Security gates and Products. They offer a professional and competitive service and provide training on all their products.
