Why You Should Take Your Motorhome To Wales

In today's economic climate everyone is looking for ways to save a few extra pennies especially when it comes to luxuries like holidays and weekends away. Holidaying in a motorhome can be a great way to see the country in your own time in your own way without the exuberant fees of hotels but with a little more comfort that a tent.

Although the continent is only a short ferry journey away, there is a vast amount of British country side just waiting to be explored. Wales has some of the most beautiful scenery and diverse heritage in the UK, with over 750 miles of coast and over 640 castles. Gwlad hud a lledrith in west Wales is still known as 'the land of magic and enchantment' and Carmarthen is rumoured to be Merlin's birthplace. It's the perfect place to take your motorhome whether you're looking to escape for the weekend or you want somewhere new to explore for a week or two.

Starting in the north of Wales, Snowdonia contains Wales's highest mountain, despite standing at over 1,000 meters above sea level, mount Snowdon has several paths which can be walked quite easily. The Watkins path, which despite being only three and a half miles long has the sharpest altitude change and should only be attempted by those with a good fitness level, for those after something a little gentler, there are several easier walks, one of the longer paths is Llanberis Path which is perhaps the gentler of walks. Snowdonia has several car parks, most of which are suitable for motorhomes and there's even a campsite on the edge of the national park if you fancy a few nights sleeping under the serenity of the mountain.

The further down Wales you travel, the softer the landscape will become. Wales boosts some of the most beautiful beaches in the UK, from miles of golden sand being lapped at by tranquil waters to sharp rocks being savaged by angry waves, whatever you look for in your beach, you're bound to find it somewhere in Wales and with hundreds of campsites throughout the country, you'll have no problem finding somewhere to park your motorhome overnight. The Welsh waters are home to a rich selection of sea life, including basking sharks, turtles, seals and dolphins, Cardigan Bay is one of the only places in the UK to be resident to a pod bottle nosed dolphins. If you prefer a little more action in your holidays, there are dozens of centres offering surfing, diving and other water sports which give you're the chance to explore the diverse Welsh waters close up.

Wales has hundreds of castles with some dating back as far as the 11th century, although many now lie in ruins, they are still impressive structures to visit and amazing views to park your motorhome next to. A few have survived the ravages of time with the help of restoration projects and give an accurate representation of what they were like in there hay day. Caerphilly Castle is not only the biggest castle in Wales, but it's the second biggest castle in the UK and is open the public as a tourist attraction, and again there are several fully equipped campsites within a stones throw of the castle for your motorhome.

As well as tranquil villages and historic towns, Wales also has five bustling cities, from the capital, Cardiff, to it's smallest city, St. David's, if you're after more hustle and bustle from your motohome holiday you're sure to find it in one of Wales's culturally rich cities.
