How to custom the flash web template you just bought

When creating a website, one of the main focus is the design of that site. Templates certainly are not the best choice for every business. However for small business owners or Internet start ups who are trying to get online as fast as possible with lowest possible budget, with no in house professional web designer, a website template may be a suitable choice.

Many websites on the Internet are offering web templates and flash templates for download, sometimes even for free.

Search for keywords such as 'web site template' or 'flash template' on Google will return thousands of search results. There are templates for a wide range of business types: from flower shop to law firms. Depending on the business category you may find hundreds of different web template to choose from.

Web templates is indeed a more affordable option than hiring a web designer to build website from scratch. Even experienced web designers sometimes use web template as a base to create websites for their clients, or browsing through template websites to get ideas for a web design project. They often use a web site template as the foundation for a web site design. For example, use the main layout design of the template, but change all the logos, menu bar, titles, graphics and color scheme so to make the page design personalized.

A purchased template must be edited in order to fill in your own content, images, logo, contact information, etc. Custom flash or HTML coding should also be done in order to make the template truly match the theme of your website. Many of the website templates found are generic to a certain point, and tends to be overwhelmingly corporate feel. Also remember you are not the only person who buy the template unless you buy an exclusive license of the design (costs thousands!). And even if you do, prior to your purchase several customers may have already bought that same template and have used it. This might not be a problem for a personal or small business home page. But many corporate or serious Internet business websites would need template customization beyond just replacing text and images.

However unless you are already an experienced HTML or Flash programmer, you will often find templates you downloaded or purchased difficult to edit. All programmers and web developers know it is often harder to learn another programmer's code than building new code. And often a website template which looks glossy on the screen contains code from multiple programmers with different coding syntax, makes it even harder to understand and modify.

If you try to contact the template website you bought the template from, you will find many of them not able to help you with your required template customization. As you might notice, there are hundreds of web sites offering exactly the same set of web templates -- as they are just affiliate websites reselling websites templates and flash templates from a third party template provider. Therefore many template websites are just interested in selling more templates rather than doing any customization work, or might just redirect you to an expensive template update service so that they can collection commissions by referring you. They are mostly just 'Internet marketers', rather than web developers.

Web templates are good starting point and can save costs, but template customization are not as easy as it seems. So what should you do with the web template you have just purchased? You might not have the software to perform template modifications, or you have the software but not the time or skill.

A growing trend of many business is to use the Internet to outsource their template customization project, so to custom flash or HTML template inexpensively with fast turnaround time. Flash and HTML experts online can help you to personalize any template base on your requirements. You can even request a unique template designed with the elements you liked base on templates you found on different websites, without having to pay for those template individually.
