Personal care trends go from avocado bathes, to mud masks. For centuries, olive oil has been used for softening and beautifying skin. Olive oil was said to have been part of Cleopatra's daily skin care regimen. She was also famous for her ritual of bathing in milk to preserve the beauty of her skin. From the times of Cleopatra in ancient Egypt, up until today, human beings have bravely put almost anything on their skin including radiation. Yet today, many critics of mammography cite the hazardous health effects of radiation, and there are other studies that prove the dangers of many ingredients used in everyday beauty and personal care products - aluminum being just one.

There are reports of skin conditions including dialysis encephalopathy and osteomalacia, caused by exposure to aluminum. But regardless of decades of sound scientific evidence, most people living on this earth consider human exposure to aluminum to be benign. However, there is a growing number of people who are so concerned about the health risks from aluminum, that they are big advocates of aluminum-free products, including one that is a non-aluminum deodorant.

Some of these toxins are filtered through the body's waste but some are not released as easily and are stored in the body; specifically in one area - the underarms. Even if a person doesn't use deodorants or antiperspirants, aluminum is abundant in our world, found in air, food, water, fertilizer, body care products, automobiles, medicines (vaccines), and food dyes. In addition, numerous studies have shown that various ingredients in everyday personal care items and household products are linked to everything from cancer to learning deficits.

Check out the ingredients on the labels of most underarm antiperspirants and note they usually all contain aluminum salts. Other metals including cadmium have also been shown to exert estrogen-like effects which can promote the growth of breast cancer cells. It is for this reason that researchers are very concerned that it is possible that aluminum salts could further disrupt normal hormonal signaling in the female breast tissue.

In fact, there has been recent news about the possible link between aluminum salts found in traditional antiperspirants and breast cancer. And when you really stop and think it through, it makes sense, because under our arms is the lymph node which is in turn linked by lymphatic vessels with fluids that surrounds our cells. This lymphatic system, along with sweat glands drain out some waste from human tissues and also helps the body fight off infections. Some waste leaves our bodies through the sweat glands, and the liver and kidneys.

But if our lymph glands become clogged up from the use of antiperspirants with aluminum, then our bodies can't drain the waste effectively. So what really happens? Aluminum typically enters our bodies externally via pores and sweat glands, and then it collects in the tissues, and ultimately ends up in our lymph glands. When aluminum is found in the body, it can be a contributing factor in neurological degeneration caused by cellular mutation.

Look for an organic, non-aluminum deodorant that actually absorbs accumulated aluminum and metal ions collecting in the underarm glands. The non-aluminum deodorant cleanses and helps restore swollen sweat ducts in the underarms releasing impeded waste fluids, and allowing for healthy lymphatic flow. It removes all types of aluminums, including alum (potassium aluminum sulphate) found in mineral crystal deodorants, encouraging a reduction in odor as well.

Formulated to attract and cleanse bacterium and metal ions, including aluminum, from the underarms, Herbalix Restoratives' aluminum-free deodorant, Detox Cleansing Deodorant, features organic botanical cleansing ingredients that work at night for efficient absorption of accumulated debris and odors. www.herbalix.com
