Sleep is one of the basic necessities of our body for it to function normally and efficiently. During the time that our body is at sleep mode, it gets to rest and recharge. Sadly, not every one get to have the amount of sleep they need. Often, our work and environment hinders us from achieving the required number of sleep. Because of this, we become less productive and memory gaps become recurring. This also renders our body weaker and more prone to illnesses and can sometimes become hazardous to ourselves and to other people.

However, it is very difficult to assess which really is the complete number of hours of sleep. A number of studies have been done on this. Unfortunately, there is no definite number of sleep that is common to everyone. These studies have concluded that the best number of hours of sleep is relative to each individual. These studies have concluded that the best number of hours of sleep should be when, upon waking up, you do not feel stressed anymore. Instead, you feel very well rested and alert. That is why it is important to assess yourself upon waking up to determine how you feel and how your sleep was.

Some people may find that attaining a perfect number of hours of sleep is very difficult. However, there are some tips that sleep experts have given to help us. One of them is to arrange your room into a place conducive for sleep. Activities that are not related to sleep should be done outside your bed to convince yourself that the bed is solely for resting. It also important that the bedroom be kept not just comfortable but dark as well. Darkness invites sleep as it prevents the eyes from seeing other things that can keep you from falling asleep. Also, when your work shift is at night, sleeping is very hard to do. Particularly during the day when everyone around your is awake and are busy with their own activities.

There are sleep essentials that can help you fall asleep. There may be therapeutic aromatherapy oils which helps you sleep through their smell. These smells are usually relaxing and invigorating. Another very important sleep essential are eye masks. These are placed to cover the eyes particularly during light conditions.

Aromatherapy oils are more expensive than most eye masks that is why the latter is more commonly used. Eye masks have different designs. Some have even went as far as doing an organic one, for those who are environment conscious. There are also different shapes, some of which follow the contours of the eyes, some the face, some completely covers the upper half of the face.

Some eye masks also serve as a remedy for some eye problems. These come with a part that helps relax the eyes, especially after a long day of staring at the computers. These eye masks serve a dual purpose as they not only help you sleep better during bright times, they also help alleviate the soreness of your eyes. (Eye masks are like pillows to your eyes, only they are placed on top.)

There are other sleep essentials that may help you. But so far, eye masks have such useful purposes that most people chooses these over other essentials.

Achieving sleep is very important. It is a comfort that we need but it is also a comfort that is usually overlooked.
