Twitter Marketing: it's definitely something which is on everybody's lips these days. Especially, considering how many new people are getting on board on a weekly basis.

But, does your Twitter marketing suck? For many people this is definitely the case and they're doing nothing but sabotaging their efforts. However, I'm here to show you what not to do and hopefully, you'll take heed.

To start with, are you simply going through the method of follow/unfollow to get increased numbers? If you are, I suggest you stop and find another method of gaining followers immediately.

You see, about the only people who reciprocate using this method are spammers, spam-companies, porn companies and so-on. Are these really people who are going to buy what you have to sell? I can tell you right now, they're not.

Look -- while it may sound difficult, you will need to go ahead and increase your numbers the slow and old fashioned way normally. This means article writing, at replies and no on.

Apart from this, the only other method I know of which is faster is to buy Twitter followers, though you will need to shell out cash to do this.

Next, let's look at what you're actually sending out to your followers.

If your Twitter stream looks something like a non-stop advertisement, then you need to stop what you're doing. I can tell you now, if all that you're sending out is promo material, your followers are going to get sick of it and end up ignoring you.

Twitter was designed as a connection medium, so use it as such! Tell people what you're doing, what food you're eating, how your dog's health is -- whatever! It may sound menial, but people love this crap and it builds trust.

Once you've got this mastered (it shouldn't take long), you only then need to send out a promo tweet two or three times per day. Believe me, your response rates will increase at a dramatic rate by doing this than if you simply send out every message as a promo message.

The thing is, people love following celebrities because of this very point. They love hearing about plain and boring stuff that people are doing. If you can manage to do this with your own account and only send out promo messages every so often, you'll definitely succeed.

After reading this, I hope your Twitter marketing won't suck as much as perhaps it did before. And if it does, you're obviously not taking notice!
