If you are an immigrant or foreign exchange student living in the US, you more than likely have experienced a certain amount of culture shock. Not only is there a language barrier, there is a certain home-sickness that comes when you leave everything that's familiar to you. One way you can ease the difficulties brought on by living in a strange place is by watching familiar TV programs. With the recent advancements in satellite television technology, you now have more ways to watch international television stations than you have ever had before.

For example, if you are a Chinese student attending college in the US, with certain satellite TV providers you have access to almost 40 Chinese language channels. If you are visiting from Germany, you can get 24-hour-a-day German news, sports, classical programming and your favorite local German talk shows. And Brazilian citizens can now watch their favorite soap operas and dramas, as well as live soccer and other sporting events.

All in all, there over 200 international channels in over 25 different languages to choose from. This obviously makes relocating to the US much easier. Regardless of what your favorite TV shows are or what sports team you like best, subscribing to international satellite programming gives you the ability to see them all.

Perhaps the most important feature of international TV programming is the news. Instead of listening to American local and national news, which is geared to the US world perspective, you can now listen to the news from your home country. Which means you can see the feature stories that mean the most to you, your family and your home country.

Most people who leave their home country to come to the US do it because they know better opportunities await them here. But leaving everything you've ever known can be difficult no matter how much better your new situation is. But you don't have to leave everything behind. International television stations are readily available in the US which gives you access to the shows you know and love. And with all of the great music channels available from programming, you will also be able to enjoy a lot of the same music your friends and family back home are listening to.

Subscribing to satellite TV doesn't cost much and for just a few dollars per month, you will be able to enjoy everything your family and friends in your home country are enjoying. If you are feeling a bit home-sick in America, check out international programming to get a taste of home.

You can keep up with programs and news in your home country by having access to international satellite TV channels. Lou Pace researched South America international TV stations and the providers he could get them from.
