Some recons do come out of the factory with a small cosmetic blemish or two, but this is a very small price to pay for new tool, with a perfectly running motor, at a fraction of the cost. Aside from price, the "R" at the end of the tool's model number, and the slight difference in packaging (box color, mostly), there is little to no difference between reconditioned and new power tools.
