A summit meeting, sometimes simply referred to as a summit, is a convention or a meeting among the government. These meetings often have a large exposure, drawing huge crowds. The security must be tight, to protect those important government officials that are present at the meeting. Summit meetings are conducted to discuss a prearranged agenda. These meetings can vary in size and be private or open to the public. Summit meetings take place in many locations across the UK. These conferences are some of the most important meetings that join heads of states and various government counterparts. A summit meeting usually draws a lot of media coverage, so they tend to be held in large convention centres in prominent cities, such as London and Bath. Summits are not only held by government personnel, they can also be lead by large corporations and associations. Many business owners join together annually for a summit, discussing new plans for the growth and expansion of their businesses.

A private summit is generally closed to the public. Those who do attend are personally invited by the association or organisation conducting the summit meeting. Organisers handle most of the details, but they will still need to be provided with specifics and preferences. Most summit meetings are organised by professionals. Almost every political summit is planned and organised by a group of professional planners. These planners will tend to every aspect of the summit, including guests lists, accommodation arrangements, rental equipment, catering, and many other details.

It is nearly impossible for one person to plan a summit meeting. These meetings are very detailed and are often planned many months before the actual event. Gathering a guest list can be a chore in itself. A venue cannot be chosen until the guest list is complete, because you will need to know what size conference centre will be needed and where it should be located. Summit meetings are held frequently, especially in large cities that are internationally known. There are many professional services available to help plan a summit meeting. Every last detail has to be perfect for these meetings to succeed. Many first impressions are made by the venue itself, so make sure to give this part of the planning a lot of consideration.
