What is the hoopla surrounding organic bedding?
In today's world with the focus on using eco-friendly and sustainable products, natural and organic bedding is one way for individuals to begin the transition from man-made products such as polyester or nylon. Organic bedding is environmentally safe because it is produced without the use of pesticides or chemicals, and comes from natural plants and vegetables, such as cotton, hemp, silk, and bamboo. Popular organic bedding products range from towels, blankets, mattress protectors, sheets, comforters and duvet sets, and even mattresses. Purchasing these types of products will help reduce the eco footprint and lessen the ill effects of chemical manufacturing that is destroying our planet as well as stop deforestation.
Typically man-made bedding products and sheets are manufactured with cotton and other products such as polyester and nylon that are intricately weaved together. Unfortunately they may offer opulence and lavishness they are not resistant to bacterial or fungal spores.
However, one of the latest trends in organic bedding is bamboo sheets, which are being trumpeted as one of the 21st century's fabrics of choice! Since bamboo is a fast growing perennial and one of the largest members of the grass family, it reaches maturity within four years and can be harvested. Bamboo's sustainability stems (no pun intended) from a vast underground root system that produces new shoots instantaneously after harvest.
Because bamboo has a naturally occurring enzyme that naturally deflects bacterial microbes, fungal spores, and pests from accumulating, bamboo sheets are essential for allergy sufferers. Imagine being able to sleep through the entire night without suffering! Additionally, bamboo sheets wick away moisture, which is important for those that suffer with night sweats, resist odors (for when you do sweat), and helps to regulate body temperature. So, now sleeping in the summer months will be much cooler than before. Organic bedding is one way of adding eco-friendly luxury and chic to a bedroom or nursery. Imagine the softness of a silk or cashmere sweater being draped over your body as you slip into bed with the added effect of keeping the dust mites and bed bugs away as well as keeping you cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
Think about those memories of being tucked in at night as a young child...bamboo sheets offer the same comfortable and lavish feeling. Your bed is automatically transformed when it is furnished with organic bedding and bamboo sheets.
