"Life is a process of becoming, a combination of states we have to go through. Where people fail is that they wish to elect a state and remain in it. This is a kind of death." ~Anais Nin

As each of us has grown and matured, we have accumulated large databases of thoughts, ideas, standards and principles. When we are promoted into new positions in our business career, all of those databases come along with us. This abundance of ideas can be overwhelming to both ourselves, our associates and the team members we manage.

What can be done about this vast, abundant surplus so that none of us becomes overwhelmed? We can whittle it down to manageable size and begin to live it ourselves. We can analyze what we've put in there and eliminate what is not useful. We can create a plan to put what is useful to great work.

Ideas that are untested through living experiences hold no power. They do not serve as examples of what to do, how to do it, or that this is an effective means to achieve success. Use, or application, then holds the key to success.

Here is a practical format for leadership in a world of ideas, proven through experience:

- Select five to ten key ideas that you know will foster success.

- Implement them in your own life by your actions.

- Talk about them with your associates and your team members.

- Encourage them to use them as you do.

- Request their wisdom in fine tuning the ideas for even better success.

My Be the Change life is based on principles that I cherish in my heart and that I live, personally. I am successful because I work with these ideas daily. I encourage you to become familiar with your own ideas. Test them. Try them. They will help you enjoy the success you want so much.

Your credibility as a leader or the member of a team is not based on the words of wisdom that come out of your mouth. It is based on the words of wisdom plus your application of them in your life. It is based on living your truth and walking your talk. The ideas in your databases are working for you. Congratulations to those of you who already have this tool working in your life. For the others, this is the secret of their successes, and you can begin today to implement it too.

"Dost thou love life? Then do not squander time, for that the stuff life is made of." ~ Benjamin Franklin
