I meet a lot of people who are fairly talented writers. Beyond that, they would love to be able to earn some extra money to supplement their family income. One simple work at home business is freelance writing. This idea does appeal to these people, but they have no idea how to get this sort of work.

Very often, they may have some mistaken idea that very few famous authors or media figures can earn money writing. This may be from the types of authors that you have noticed in magazines or popular books. This much is true. It is tough to get a book or magazine article pubished, and then it is tougher to earn money from that work. In fact, a majority of magazine writers and book authors only do it to supplement their incomes.

But there is another way to make money writing. Right now, there are millions of websites on thousands of different topics. One thing that all of these websites need is fresh content so readers will keep returning. Many website owners started out by writing their own content. But as they grew, they found that they made better use of their time by hiring out this task.

How can you find online writing work?

One thing you need to do is to educate yourself about writing for the internet. It is a bit different than other types of writing. Notice how articles on popular websites are structured. You can find a lot of free information on the web about writing for the web too.

Then find out where webmasters tend to hang out. Since many website owners work alone, or in small groups, they do participate in a lot of different communities for ideas, advice, and support. They aso buy seervices from these communities. The communities could be online or offline.

There are forums and online communities that attract webmasters. They could be about running websites, making money, or a variety of website related topics. Make yourself known in these online communities and find a good way to promote your services. Be sure to abide by the community rules. You do not want to get kicked off as a spammer.

But you can probably find some sections of these websites that is dedicated to buying and selling. And most of the time, these areas are free!

You may also benefit from offline communities too. You can find meet up groups or conventions that attract website owners. They all need content. All you need to do is to let them know that you are a good person to provide those writing services.

Some web writers get very good at researching a variety of topics so they can write about almost anything. A lot of website owners are willing to help with research because they know about their topics.

If you would rather specialize in specific topics that you have a background in, you will probably need to dig deeper for business. However, you may do very well by getting well known as a good writer in some niches.

You can write for money! Start by finding freelance writing jobs on the internet. The market is booming, and you can profit if you know how to look for these opportunities.
