The holiday season is here. Whenever the holiday season rolls around, it is time to think of giving gifts. One great present that may please everybody is the gift of life insurance. Have you ever considered giving life insurance as a present?
Who gives life insurance as a gift? It is actually fairly common to purchase a life insurance policy for somebody else. Companies do it all the time. Private consumers do it too. There are several good reasons to consider making a present out of a new policy!
You may want to endow a favorite charity with a large sum of money. However, if you are not able to set aside that much money, there is an affordable way to give money to a charity or foundation. You could give them the proceeds from your policy.
Similarly, you may name family members as the beneficiaries of your policy. This is a way to make sure that you pass on some wealth to the next generation.
So one way to give life insurance as a present is to make a gift of the death benefit. After you pass away, you can leave money behind.
But there is another way to make a gift out of a policy. You could actually purchase one for somebody else. That may seem sort of odd, but it is actually quite common.
For example, you may want to give your kids or grand kids a life insurance policy. You can actually find a lot of reasons to purchase coverage on kids when they are young.
What are advantages of children's life insurance? For one thing, the rate will probably be very low. Premiums go up as we get older. Kids are cheap to cover. If you buy a policy that can get paid up, you could bestow a lifetime of coverage upon these children for a very low price! If you buy a whole or term life policy, it may also grow in value. Your child or grand child could use this value in order to finance and education, buy a home, or start a business. Your gift could help them in future decades.
Some people even purchase life insurance policies for elderly parents. This assures everybody that there will be money to pay for a funeral and other final expenses. Many elderly people feel comforted by the fact that this need has been taken care of.
It may seem unusual to think about giving life insurane as a gift. However, it is actually a very practical and thoughtful thing to do!
