I wish I could promise people low car insurance rates for teenagers or young adults. But the reality is that insurers consider young drivers a very hgh risk group to insure. Younger people will be less experienced, and they may also be more impulsive. The only way to gain experience is to spend time on the road. But until your young driver has done this, it can be tough to keep them safe and insured.

Because of this, they usually give these kids higher rates. But while you may not be able to find really cheap auto insurance premiums for younger people, you can find rates that are as low as possible.

Keep in mind, that most teens and young adults are included with their parents policies. This may give a family the opportunity to look for more discounts. And many young drivers are entitled to auto insurance discounts on their own too.

A driver's education class may be given at school, or these days, at private schools. They should include time in the classroom and time on the road with a qualified teacher. Many top insurers, but not all, will offer a discount for drivers who complete these classes. Even if the class costs a few hundred dollars, that money will probably be saved in the log run.

A student driver who takes an approved class will benefit from learning to be a safer driver, avoid risks, and by qualifying for some price breaks on their policy. Good classes teach traffic laws, alcohol and drug awareness, and safe driving skills.

Many insurers also reward good grades in school. They consider good students to be more responsible, and they believe a B average in school means that a student will be more likely to be responsible about driving too.

Keep in mind that not all insurers offer the same discounts. If your old company does not consider any factors besides the fact that a person is young, you may want to shop around for another company. You cannot always assume that your old company will be the right one when you add a new driver. Many insurers are very friendly to parents who have a long and safe driving history. They are less friendly to young drivers who are considered risky!

Now let us look at some common discounts that may lower rates for the whole family. Many companies also offer home insurance, and they offer auto and home policy discounts. They may even offer a lower rate for multiple drivers or multiple vehicles. Many families find affordable rates by using all of their insurance business company to negotiate, instead of just trying to insure the younger driver.
