Drowning in a sea of so called weight loss solutions? I know it can be scary because you don't want to get burnt again...Well here are the seven questions you simply must ask before you sign up for a weight loss program.

Be warned if you don't: your weight could be back up and down like a yo-yo.

Does it have the three critical elements: emotional support; an enjoyable movement program; and a selection of foods that will leave you satisfied and full? It takes all of these elements to get you quickly back into those clothes you want to wear. If a weight loss program you're considering doesn't have one of these elements it is likely to be your downfall in the long run.

Can I trust them? And you do know deep down if it is a real solution...do you not? A hint is to check are they looking to give, or are they looking to get? And you can do this by noticing if they are focused on them or you. Read their material and decide does it make sense for you?

Do they know their stuff? Will they guarantee their results? And it is a good thing to ask quality questions and see if you get quality answers. Make sure it is a holistic approach rather than a narrow approach otherwise they may not be able to see the wood for the trees.

Will they look after you? Have a chat with them to see if you feel comfortable and safe in their presence? A tick for this box would be if they offer emotional support and frequent contact. Consider also if the physical environment will support your efforts. One can, you know, do a program from the privacy of your own home.

Does it deal with your underlying cause of being overweight? If it is a temporary surface level solution then get off that ship quickly. Get on the boat that looks at exploring what is happening below the surface to find the root cause of the problem so it can be dealt with and the problem solved for good.

Is it just another miracle claim? Everybody wants fast results, which is understandable and is possible, but beware of the miracle solution. And all miracle claims, all the miracle claims put them in the bin.

Which leads to the next question - is it going to work in the long term? A good program will teach people to install new habits and provide education so by the time you've finished the program you don't need them again.

Because your health is so important make sure to take time out to choose a program that is going to provide you with new insights and new understandings.
