Just last week, a mother said farewell to four boys she had raised as sons. They were leaving for missions training, and she had heard them talking late into the night about their upcoming adventures. As they prepare to climb into a van and leave, she panics: Has she done enough? Loved enough? The van pulls away and she stands, waving gooodbye with tears in her eyes. She has given them everything she knows to give and now she must trust God to keep them and never leave them.

A young woman recently drove thirteen hours to attend missionary training in Florida. She arrives and goes to bed crying, overwhelmed by it all and worrying she won't make any friends. However, she wakes up the next morning excited and eager to take her first steps towards missionary work, a work she will later describe as an "amazing journey."

A missions team from the United States recently joined a local pastor in Guatemala to pray for a three-month-old baby thought dead. Undaunted, they pray, and as they pray, the baby's cold skin begins to warm, and his eyes, though closed, begin to move. Moments later, a tearful and grateful Mom and Dad receive a healthy and smiling baby back into their arms.

Have you heard any of the above true stories? Any chance they made headlines in your newspaper?

I often wonder if the stories we read about and care about are the stories God is actually interested in. According to the Bible, "the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart." 1 Samuel 16:7.

What if the real history of the world has yet to be written, and the most important stories of our time are stories most of us will never read or hear?

Let this be a word of encouragement: God's view of the world is not our own. Whether we are consumed with politics and the latest breaking news, or whether we have simply turned off and tuned out all news in frustration and weariness -- God is still God. He is very real and at work in a million different ways we will never hear about, at least not in this lifetime.

You never know, at this very minute, your story and your heart might well be the "breaking news" in Heaven. While everyone else is looking at the latest controversy and dispute, God may well be looking at your heart and excitedly sharing the "big news" with everyone around Him.

Let us hope that someday all of us will hear this story and more, and laugh at ourselves for having been so stressed about what was printed in the New York Times.

How could we have ever thought that what was printed there was so important?

How could we not realize that the real news stories -- the stories with eternal significance -- are printed on God's heart.

  • Aries Most Compatible Astrological Signs For Lasting Love Partners (Conrad Dane)
Those born under the Aries astrological sign searching for true love may be having trouble finding someone who is truly compatible. With spiritual guidance and by researching the astrological signs most closely compatible to theirs, an Aries may be able to discover who is right for them instead of who they wish was the right one.

  • The Secret of Black Magic (Yamaya Cruz)
The true secret of black magic is alchemy. It is a science, and much like a chemist it needs the right ingredients, measurements, timing, and knowledge to transform itself from copper to gold.

  • Spiritual Energy (Yamaya Cruz)
n dummy terms, chakras actually create fuel within the body, much like a solar panel takes sunlight and converts it into electricity. This is the body's natural way of recharging itself. Unfortunately, over the years people have become heavily dependent on fuel. And I don't just mean gasoline. We have forgotten how to recharge our own batteries.

  • Jesus Forbids Exclusion! (Aaron Taylor)
The term evangelical Christian and I share a love/hate relationship. On the one hand, I believe in the good news of Jesus' death and resurrection and desire to share the implications of this news with others. The problem is that for most people in America, the term evangelical Christian is loaded with political undertones...

  • How Did We Get the Books of the Bible? (Jo Ann LeQuang)
The Old and New Testaments contain 66 books--but how do we know that they are the "right" books? How did we come to get the books of the Bible? The way in which canon or official texts were identified is crucial to understanding and appreciating the authority of Scripture.

  • Experience Transformation During An All Night Spiritual Celebration (Karuna DiLibero)
Each year, there is a celebration in honor of Lord Shiva at the Hanuman temple in Taos, New Mexico that I attend as a way to transform my life. This 12-hour ritual cleanses my soul and I feel transformed, fresh and pure, ready to start a new segment in my life. Maha Shivaratri, the "Night of Shiva" is a powerful experience and gives me a taste of the India that I miss living here in the US.

By arranging to give heart necklace jewelry to your beloved, you are expressing clearly what you may not be able to say in words to her.

  • Getting Back To Our Nature (Yamaya Cruz)
People are not allowed to freely express themselves. Instead, they are being reared like a pet. They are rewarded for good behavior and scorned for bad. People can't embody the natural element of fire, because anger and jealousy is bad. People can't show sadness, the element of water, because sadness is a sign of vulnerability. People can't be too loving and giving, the element of earth, because it is a sign of weakness.
