When it comes to hiring a house cleaning company, it can be the most convenient thing to have going for you. After all, you can't clean nearly as well as they can and sometimes you don't have the time. Or maybe you have an event or party you are throwing at your house and you need everything to be absolutely immaculate. But when you have maid services come to help out, there's a certain etiquette you want to follow.

Take my aunt, for example. She loved the maid that would come to her home because it made her life easier. Instead of hours spent cleaning up after the kids in the middle of her day, she was able to focus more on her business from home and work through her day as she should. And because she was so grateful, she treated her maids extremely well and they loved heading to her home. That's the kind of host you want to be, the kind that they will look forward to returning to. It's not always easy to go in and out of strangers' homes but if you can make them feel more comfortable, it'll make all the difference.

Tipping is never mandatory but always well received, especially in the case where you have a maid who does a lot of hard work, moving of furniture, and goes above and beyond in her cleaning and care of your home. How much to tip is up to you, really, but some people would rather give a larger annual tip around the holidays as opposed to tipping after every cleaning. This works for those who have home cleaning done on a regular basis. If you only have it a few times a year, take into consideration how many hours they worked, how much work they did and in general, how well of a job they did.

You can also show appreciation by leaving a note or just giving kind words to your housekeeper. There's nothing better than hearing you've done a job well done, or that your services are appreciated. It's all about building a good relationship, especially if this person is coming into your home on a consistent basis.

Be appreciative of those who come into your home to keep it clean and they'll be appreciative of you as a client. After all, they work hard every single day to keep people like you organized and together, so they deserve it!
