It takes a lot of drive and determination to write something worth reading, or even more importantly, worth publishing, which is what ultimately all writers seek, someone to tell them that yes their writing is worth reading.

But in a world where seemingly everyone is a writer, it becomes harder and harder to separate yourself from the pack. Sure, it helps if you are a master, if you've logged ten thousand hours or more over the course of your life, but even that isn't enough. You need an internet presence too, a platform, so you can show off to publishers or even pay back book binding services. And it takes pure dedication, the desire to keep going when everyone tells you no, that's not good enough for us.

Even then, however, it's not enough sometimes. To write something truly great takes originality. You have to know the tradition, and understand what's come before you so you aren't doing the same thing over again, or rather if you are, how it's different and better.

That takes time, lots of reading. Then you can begin to analyze how people are writing already -the tendencies of present writers, the pack, which refer back to our culture at large. This writing is a result of the culture we live in, and since you're part of it, you need to start thinking about how it's shaped you into who you are.

For instance, the Tweet. Short, clever, witty, meaningful. If you could craft a story out of Tweets you could have a bestselling novel on your hand. Or you could take it to book binding services, since chances are big-time publishers probably wouldn't think it marketable enough to sell. Or a novel of blog posts, much like the epistolary novels of years past. Or if you could somehow wrap blog posts inside of a small story to create something circular, interesting, digressive, and do this over and over again, you could have something entirely new and original. If each chapter were like a long blog post, that could be the ticket to a successful binding services experience.

Whatever ideas you have, make sure to follow them through. Sit on them, take time off from them, work on something else, and come back. Then edit, edit, edit, and let your friends and family read it. Then take it to book binding services. The novel is becoming more memoiristic, more digressive, more urgent. Take heed.
