Different types of dance have different physical requirements, but arguably no dance genre is more demanding than pointe. Going on pointe requires years of preparation and training and the appropriate Capezio dance shoes and other elements of Capezio dancewear are imperative to beginning a successful career on pointe.

Although Capezio dance shoes for pointe are designed to support a dancer's limbs, this form of dance exceedingly taxing on the lower extremities. The appropriate age for a dancer to go on pointe remains controversial, but generally the recommended age is between ten and twelve years old.

The dance instructor should formally assess her pupil before she decides whether the dancer is ready to handle difficulties of pointe. The teacher will make this evaluation based on certain criteria, such as proper body position and alignment, adequate turnout, strength and balance, and command of fundamental ballet methods.

Pointe also requires a certain level of emotional maturity since the dancer needs to be prepared to endure sore feet and occasional blisters. This form of dance is one of the most physically demanding on her body, so she needs to understand the level of work and dedication that going on pointe entails. The dancer must determine whether she is prepared to give a minimum of three hours a week to ballet classes. And, she needs to be taught and made aware of the correct way to care for her Capezio dance shoes for pointe.

Another component of being prepared for pointe is being ready to care for the shoes. When a girl first goes on pointe, she may be tempted to show off her new Capezio dance shoes, but she should never do so out on the street.
