When it comes to makeup, women can tend to be all over the place. They pick shades they like on the fly and tubes of eye liner because they are on sale for a great deal. But a lot of them are missing some serious musts in their arsenal as far as beauty products go and are often picking trendy items that they may not really need.
Every woman needs a good mascara. Some like to wear it every day and some reserve it only for their nights out, but either way, it's at the top of the list. Long, dark eyelashes really pop against colorful eye shadow and make you look like you've got a fuller set of lashes in general. Some women opt for fake lashes, but these can be over the top, especially for regular day to day use. You just need to find a mascara that doesn't clump, is water proof and that essentially, you really like.
You also need a great eyeliner. It doesn't have to be black if you don't like such a bold look. Grey and brown work well for a neutral liner. Which type you like, liquid or pencil, is up to you. Liquid gives you a more precise and dark look but pencil is easier overall to apply. But the ways in which a good eyeliner can be used are limitless, especially if you want to follow various fashion trends utilizing it.
You need at least one set of eyeshadow that are neutrals. Bright colors are great for a night out on the town but may not fly in the work place and may make you look like you are trying to hard if you are just going to the grocery store. "Nude" shades are really in, something to give you just a bit of color without looking over the top. But you won't feel like you look like you just got out of bed either.
Foundation is also key. The right foundation will cover blemishes and even out your skin without looking like you have a mask on. If your foundation makes your face a very different shade from your neck, you are doing it wrong. You have to take the time to try out foundation shades and really understand your skin tone.
Lastly, you need a go to lipstick. Something that is fair enough to work with for any occasion, but when applied in layers or over another color, will really pop when you want to stand out. Use lipstick that moisturizes, not one that dries out your lips.
With these 5 things in your beauty arsenal, you'll be ready to take on just about anything.
