As a young man there comes a time for experience and adventure. The age for this is anywhere from 18-30. One of the best ways for a young person to experience the world is by driving through it. And in the U.S., or Europe for that matter, we know such an adventure by the more colloquial term: the road trip.

It helps to be comfortable in a car. The person driving should have taken a five hour driving course at some point in their lives, since it is common to spend more than five hours at a time driving down a four lane highway. And while highway driving is usually safer than intercity driving, it does involve greater speeds and a higher risk of death if there is an incident. Needless to say, even if the driver(s) haven't taken a five hour driving class, they should feel comfortable driving under different conditions for long periods of time.

There are so many things to see while road tripping. Firstly, there are the cities, which usually come up about every couple of hundred miles or so. While there may be smaller cities and larger towns along the way, they don't usually necessitate stopping for cultural aspects. That's not to say there aren't adventures to be had in these smaller cities; it may simply be harder to find them.

Differences in natural beauty are extraordinary when traversing thousands of miles by car. Canyons, lakes, rivers, forests, mountains, caves, arches, and more are all worth exploring and stopping for. Luckily many national parks and recreational areas are quite near small towns that offer their own flavor and sense of what it's like to live far away from the rest of the world.

The people you meet on a road trip are also part of the reason for going. Different paradigms are what make the world go round and when you're out of your comfort zone, you may be forced to make friends for a meal, a glass of water, or even a place to stay for the night. Take advantage, swap stories and accept recommendations. The locals know best.

Overall, prepare yourself for the best and the worst. You may very well experience the trip of a lifetime, but you could also run into the unexpected. The funny thing is that sometimes the best stories and ripest memories involve the hardest to deal with problems. If you get into a tight spot, take a deep breath and remember, it was all supposed to happen this way, and it can only get better
