Everybody knows that kids socks are a great way to keep your child's feet safe from their shoes. Kids socks, however, have lots of household applications. If you thought socks belong only on people's feet you were wrong, dead wrong.

Kids socks makes a great cozy for a warm drink. If your coffee mug is cooling down too fast just slide it into a sock for boys. It will stay warm for hours. If you want to enjoy a frosty beer during your child's soccer game but don't want to get dirty looks from other parents, just jam the cold brew into one of a pair of little girls socks. Don't worry, it will be our little secret. If you are watching your figure and consuming hard alcohol, don't worry there is a sock for you. Infants socks are a great way to hide those single serving bottles of alcohol; you know, the ones you get on planes. Those are so fun. This goes without saying, but if you plan to imbibe, don't drive your child to and from soccer practice.

If you are anything like me, you like to forage for food in the woods. The woods are full of tasty treats like nuts, berries, mushrooms, and edible roots. If you are foraging for nuts or edible roots but don't have a basket to hold them in, just grab a girls knee high sock. It can probably hold 50 walnuts, or 100 smaller nuts. Depending on the size of edible roots in your area, a kids sock can hold at least 3 or 4 tasty tubers. Check with your local Game and Wildlife Commission to learn about edibles in your area.

If you are looking for a great arts and crafts project for your family, buy some socks for kids and make sock puppets. Sock puppets are fun, and significantly less creepy than other puppets. You and your family can re-enact you favorite scenes from literature, film, and movies but with sock puppets. When I am with my family, we will routinely act out parts of Macbeth with sock puppets. A good courtroom drama is also fun to put on with sock puppets.

Now that it is winter, don't pay outrageous prices for gloves or mittens. Just cut and sew some modifications onto a pair of kids socks. You will have a fashionable pair of gloves in no time.

These are only some of the alternative uses of kids socks. Keep kids socks handy and see just how useful they are.
