Feeling insecure in a relationship can lead you down some dark and dangerous paths. You might find yourself questioning your partner's every move and motive. If they say they need to work late because their boss emailed them, you might find yourself very tempted to check out that email for yourself.

Knowing intimate secrets and things about your partner is healthy. You should have no big secrets from each other and there should always be an open line of communication between you. Knowing every single move your partner makes is a little overkill. If you've thought of attaching a GPS tracking device to them when they leave the house, you might want to look into relationship coaching. Surreptitiously checking emails or their call history on their cell phone while they're in the shower is a sign that you have some serious trust issues and you need to learn where you should draw the line. If you find yourself hacking into their accounts for any reason, you might need to start marriage counseling.

This type of behavior is an extension of severe trust issues.Marriage counseling can help you see where the trust issues are coming from. Are you unhappy with your marriage? Do you feel like you don't get enough attention? Has something changed in your relationship? Does this mistrust stem from you or from your partner? These are all questions that can be answered by a few marriage counseling sessions. Most of these trust issues stem from a severe and sudden lack of communication between the two of you. Sometimes this can have absolutely nothing to do with a problem in your relationship. Does your significant other often work late? If they work late and are not home often, find other ways to communicate. It has nothing to do with a drop in the amount of love in your relationship but everything to do with the time they need to spend at work.

Finding new and fun ways to keep lines of communication open is something you can discuss with your marriage counselor and will take both of you to accomplish. As previously stated, communication is absolutely key in any healthy relationship.

There are varying levels of "odd behavior" but they don't always mean something bad is happening. You also need to make the distinction between curiosity and trust issues. These are all things that you can have a marriage counselor help you and your partner work through.

http://www.drnancy.net is a New York marriage counseling website for Dr. Nancy Davidson. This is a great resource for those looking for information on maintaining a healthy work/life balance or relationship coaching.
