Optimization of video is very important if you want your video discovered by the opinion leaders and searched by their followers. About two thirds of all searches on video sharing sites will come from the opinion leader followers, but about one third of all searches will be from the opinion leaders. If you do not optimize your videos properly you will never have a chance to get your videos discovered by the opinion leaders.
Lets not get confused with what video optimization is. First, let me identify what it is not. Video optimization has nothing to do what so ever with video formatting such as video format, aspect ratio, resolution, audio format, frames per second, maximum length, or maximum file size. Video optimization is the coding of the meta data to improve your results in the search rankings. When we are talking about Youtube that means we are optimizing the title, description, and video tags. Video optimizations main purpose is to help you get your article video discovered nothing more.
Here's what the Youtube help center has to say about searching and the ranking process at Youtube, "We believe strongly in allowing the democracy of the web to determine the inclusion and ranking of videos in our search results. After determining the content of the video using our spidering technology, Youtube combines sophisticated text matching techniques to find videos that are both important and relevant to your search. Our technology examines dozens of aspects of the video contents (including number of hits and rating) to determine if it is a good match for your query. We're continually working to improve our algorithms to provide the most relevant results for your query."
Youtube makes the following information in it's video toolbox about making your video easy to find. "When you upload your video, we require you to choose at least one category and enter at least one tag to describe the content in your video." Adding this information helps other Youtube members find your video, so if you want an audience, help them out! The more accurate the meta data tags are for each video, the easier it is for everyone to find cool videos to watch. Make your meta data tags descriptive as you can. If you took a video of your friends at the beach, you might want to tag it like this: "party beach surfing". Each tag is separated from the other by a space. Lets dig into the statements that the help center at Youtube has written about searching and ranking of videos and come up with a plan that you can use whenever you create a on-line video.
· #1 Identify and use keywords that are relevant to your video and the specific channel you are selecting to be listed in. For example I have created a video about converting a article to video and I have selected the channels article marketing, and video marketing . I would enter tags such as: articles to video, video articles, convert articles, video from article, exct. Do not use single words for your keyword tags they are to general.
· #2 Make sure you pick a channel that is relevant to your video article. For my example above I would not want to select a channel like "sports" because it is not relevant to my video.
· #3 Make sure your thumbnail is compelling enough to engage your search visitors. The thumbnails the first thing a searcher sees.
· #4 Make sure your video tags are single words and not phrases. Currently Youtube tags are based on single words. The video tags are very important but not as specific as the keyword video phrase meta tags you enter Well that concludes my article about video optimization.
