Choosing a treadmill can be a daunting prospect. With so many to choose from you could get yourself stuck in information overload territory. Prior to choosing your treadmill you must first decide on a few things:
1) What is your budget?
2) What is the maximum weight of the users?
3) What space is available for the tread mill?
4) How long will the treadmill be in use for per day?
5) What is the maximum speed you require?
6) What is the maximum elevation you require?
So let's deal with the first issue of budget. If you are serious about running you will need a budget of at least $1500 to purchase a treadmill of good quality. Any less and the treadmill is likely to be flimsy and constructed using components which are second grade. This minimum budget is also a necessity if the people using the treadmill are heavy. Most low budget treadmill are only rated to 100 maybe 120 KG's where as the higher cost treadmills are capable of users who weight much more. Another important factor that may seem obvious to most is the availability of space in which to locate the treadmill. Having a treadmill that is not capable of folding away when you have a small space is a nightmare, trust me the last thing you want is to start resenting your exercise equipment because it takes up to much space. So measure the area in your house or apartment where you want the treadmill to go and write the maximum dimensions you would like the treadmill not to exceed.
If you have a large family who are all going to be using the treadmill on a daily basis you must ensure that you buy a high use treadmill, the et6 folding treadmill is an example of a treadmill that can cope with high levels usage. Some machines are designed only for four or five hours a day, exceeding this will wear the treadmills components out. Personally I would prefer to pay a little more for high specification components that are going to last. Why any manufacturer would design a treadmill only to be used for a certain length of time a day is beyond me, but some do. Try Smooth Fitness's the 935 HR Treadmill as this has many good features and is built to last.
If you are fit already the last thing you want is to buy a treadmill which is only capable of 6mph so make sure the treadmill you are looking to buy has a good enough top speed. Life Fitness 9700 Next Generation Treadmill is an excellent example of how quality.
