There's plenty to do in Orlando, both day and night, but in the evening there is one special activity that you may not want to miss. You can get a panoramic view of downtown Orlando perched on top one of its rooftop bars.

There are two bars in downtown Orlando that are renowned for their atmosphere and for their great nighttime view of the city. They are Sky 60 and Latitudes. Let's take a look at what you can find in both of these popular night spots.

It has been said that Sky 60 is the kind of bar that you could only find in Florida or in some tropical location where the temperature is always warm. The whole bar is outside on a rooftop along Orlando's Orange Avenue.

The décor invokes images of Miami's South Beach. There are VIP cabana areas walled with white sheets and you really get the feeling that you are on vacation when you sit down here. In addition to the cabana seating you can sit at tables or at the bar. You will also find a lot of plants and you will feel like you are in a rooftop garden. There is a dance floor where you can groove to techno beats, ambient and progressive house music.

Sky 60 is popular with both locals and tourists and it can get quite crowded. One tip is to arrive before 10 PM and enjoy the atmosphere, the open air and the wonderful view of downtown Orlando. Here is the address and phone number: 54 N Orange Ave, Orlando, FL 32801 (407) 246-1599

The other popular rooftop bar is Latitudes on Church Street. Latitudes is located on the third level of a four story complex at Church Street's main hub. Below it you will find Big Belly Brewery and Chillers balcony with the first floor being Chillers.

Latitudes owes its popularity to its rooftop location and tropical décor. There are tiki lamps, wood decks and palm. There are two bars making it easy to get a drink and there is also an observation deck another story up with a few tables for getting the ultimate view of Orlando.

The dancing area is not big, compared to the bars downstairs, but you can dance if you want to (the music is excellent) or else go downstairs to the larger dance floor at Chillers. The crowd at Latitudes is young (lots of college students), the dress is casual (anything goes wardrobe wise!) and there is also a stage area for contests and live music.

Because of all these attractive features (great view, tropical vibe and young crowd) this place can get very crowded on the weekends so be prepared to enjoy your view of Orlando from a tropical perch with a lot of other folks too. You can find Latitudes at 33 W Church St, Orlando, FL 32801, (407) 649-4270

So, there it is. If you want something to do at night that can only be done in Orlando, then a visit to one or both of these rooftop bars will provide you with an enjoyable experience and wonderful memories
