You may or may not remember the time when 80s songs were king. Perhaps the 80s are a blur to you. Or perhaps you didn’t care about the 80s because the 60s or 70s were your decade. Or perhaps, if you’re like me, you were too young to remember it. Whatever is your situation, there’s little doubt that you still love 80s music and crave for it almost every day.

Perhaps, in the morning, you want someone to wake you up before you go-go, so that you can dance like a maniac to the classic Wham song. You may even have a T-shirt with the words “Choose Life” written on it. Who can ever forget that song, let alone, the iconic video that represents all those crazy yet happy times in the 80s?

If you’re a girl, then all you pretty much wanted to do in the 80s was to have fun. All girls just wanna have fun, right? Cyndi Lauper certainly made a career out of this song and continues to be regarded as a 80s icon. There’s no doubt that the girls can have a lot of fun when the DJ puts this song on in the nightclub.

However, for the guys in the nightclubs, you better be on the lookout for those maneaters. Yes, there are maneaters everywhere and Hall and Oates were right to sing about it in this classic 80s song. Their decision was even more justified when the song became a worldwide number 1 hit. What an appropriate song to put in a nightclub!

Life today is even busier and more hectic than during the 80s. We need a holiday more than ever before. Madonna was right in making us crave one back then and today’s busy world makes this song even more appealing today. There are even some people out there who would prefer a holiday back to the 80s rather than to a certain place on this Earth.

Real music legends are few and far between these days but 80s songs certainly showcased a lot of these. One of these became a musical icon in the 80s by telling us repeatedly that Billie Jean wasn’t his lover. Michael Jackson eventually convinced us of that through a singing voice and dancing ability that so far remains unmatched. It’s a crying shame that he is no longer with us today.

The best thing about 80s songs is that we have a medium through which we can feel the vibes, happiness and passion of such a much loved and missed musical era.
