When I think about 90s Songs, I think about variety and diversity. The one thing that separates this era from the others is that there was not one type of musical genre that dominated. There was alternative rock, grunge, R&B, dance, electronic and of course teen pop. There was a bit of everything and great bands and songs produced in the process.

It wasn’t easy to choose a couple of songs from this era to feature in this article. However, I finally made my choice and I hope you enjoy what I have to offer.

(Everything I Do) I Do It For You – Bryan Adams

One of the best love songs from the 90s, if not the best. The fact that it remained on top of the US charts for 7 consecutive weeks is testament to its beauty and impact. Overall, it was highest selling song in the world in the year 1991. The message in the song is simple yet powerful: if you want to show your undying love for someone, you must be prepared to do whatever is necessary for that person. A true ballad for the ages.

Iris – Goo Goo Dolls

When I think of this song, I always think about the movie City of Angels. Which is normal given that it was the success of the movie that made this song popular and one of the best 90s Songs. Unfortunately for Goo Goo Dolls, this song was not permitted to chart until it became a commercial single. When it was finally released as a single, it only made number 9. If it had been released earlier, it would have been one of the biggest number one hits of the decade. It is still a great song nonetheless loved by many around the world.

End of the Road – Boyz II Men

In 1992, Motown came back to prominence with the release of this record breaking song in 1992. In total, it spent 13 consecutive weeks at number 1 in the United States, which Boyz II Men would break twice in the 90s. The song deals with an imminent breakup between 2 lovers, where the man does not really want to let his woman go. The voices of the singers blend together very well and soon their style became to get copied. As a result Boyz II Men led the way for a new era of boy bands in the 1990s.

Overall, the 90s were a wonderful period of music where no genre dominated throughout. As the songs above show, 90s Songs have the ability to remain timeless and played over and over in the future.
