The concept of dating has evolved through the creation of the World Wide Web, thus providing people a chance to meet and chat with others online. Online dating allows people to chat online or PM (private message) you through the online dating website instead of actually meeting and dating personally. Yes, it does save time, money, and keeps both your privacy intact, but this does not ensure safety and complete trustworthiness between both parties. Some men would write in their profiles and chat online as handsome heartthrobs when in fact they are just trying to find people for money or other abusive purposes. Women also tend to pose as sweet, charming, beautiful women who only want fun and honest dating until they start meeting up with you in person and turn out to be the complete opposite, probably both in looks and personality.

These instances do happen through online dating so it is important that you as a member should be cautioned as to whom you encounter through online dating and what are your commitments towards them. Online dating precautions help in guiding people to discern which of their "online partners" are truthful or are actually brutes looking for money-grabbing opportunities. In order to do so, the person dating should already be aware of the possibilities of online dating, both the positive and the negative. For the negative, all that is required is trustworthiness and self-preservation. To further explain my point, I have below a few online dating suggestions that can help you make your online dating experience clean, fun, and safe as well:

The first thing that you would usually do after signing up in an online dating website is to write down your profile. Your profile is your first impression, so try your best to write as truthfully and creatively as you can. People would usually be attracted to interesting profiles and would even know just how serious you are about your beliefs, and rules when dating.

When chatting with a person or when sending a private message to your potential match, do not start immediately with a flirty or sleazy message as this would normally turn the person off and would result to complete rejection. A nice simple "Hi!" would assure you of two things: either the person will return your greetings with the same interested manner or will still continue to ignore you. It really depends on how you deliver yourself as an interesting person to others online. Remember, your profile is the basic foundation of how people will judge you as a potential friend or partner.

So you finally became friends with someone and you're wondering if it is time to meet up face-to-face. Though it can be quite exciting, get to know the person as much as possible, his/her attitude and personality, and see if he/she is worth trusting when you begin to arrange a meeting place. As I have mentioned before, there are those who are eager to meet up with people and end up using them for money and other abusive purposes. If you think the person you're dealing with is truthful and close enough to you, then you can arrange a date for you two to meet.
