The failure rate for internet marketers is very high, in the high 90 percentile range. There may be many reasons for this but I can assure you that the main reason is the lack of work ethic that is required to run a successful internet business.

Consider the cost of running an online business to that of an offline business. Start up costs for an offline business may run in the thousands, tens of thousands, or even hundreds of thousands. You can get an online business off the ground for nearly nothing.

The fact that start up and running costs for an online business are so cheap compared to an offline business may be the reason why the failure rate is so high. People may not take their online business seriously because they feel like they don't have much invested into it. So if they don't succeed, it's no problem because they won't be out too much money.

This is a common occurrence I see with many people trying to make money online. They just don't have the right mindset to be able to make an online business work. I can pretty much guarantee you will fail if you think you won't have to do much to succeed.

Success and making money online all relies in how you approach your internet business. If you treat it like a true business, which it is, you will have a much better chance to make significant money online. On the other hand, if you think you'll be able to make a quick profit with little or no work, you may as well not even attempt it. Here's what I mean by treating it like a business.

Set up a budget for your online business. If you can control your costs, including how much and where your money is going it will be much easier for you to see if your promotion techniques you are using are profitable or not. This will also allow you to be able to reinvest the profits into increasing your bottom dollar as well.

Write out goals, long term and short term. It's not always clear as to how we are going to get from point A (no profits), to point B (a successful and profitable home business). When you write down exactly what you want to achieve and how you are going to achieve it, the path suddenly becomes much more clear. All you have to do is connect the dots as to what you need to do every day to reach that ultimate goal.

If you want to run a successful business, know what it takes to succeed before you get yourself into it. It is a real business so set up a budget and set goals to give yourself a chance to really make money online.
